    Big drop in temperatures today not just for Butte but across the entire state of Montana. Temperatures are running around 10° to 25° cooler this afternoon compared to Wednesday afternoon.     Cool air and light showers will control most of the afternoon.  Temperatures are expected to stay in the low 50s for most of southwest Montana with light rain showers for most of the area.  The snow level will rise from 5800 feet to near 7000 feet by the afternoon.  While the wind is not expected to be an issue, our wind could pick up to between 15 to 20 mph at times during the afternoon.

    A dry cold front and strong Polar jet stream along with a tight pressure gradient is producing strong surface winds across Montana today. National Weather Service continues a WIND ADVISORY for all areas West of the divide including the Butte/Blackfoot region through 9 pm tonight.
