Anaconda Commissioner Robert Pierce pleaded not guilty to alleged sex crimes in Butte-Silver Bow District Court on Monday.
Pierce is charged with sexual assault and intercourse without consent. The victim, now 14, listed at least three occasions when Pierce touched her or made her touch him inappropriately. She was in 3rd or 4th grade when the first alleged incident occurred.
The trial date is set for April 22. The defense moved to continue the trial, claiming that more time is needed to prepare. The state denied this request.
Presiding Judge Brad Newman will give a ruling motion by Tuesday.
