The Rimrock Humane Society came to the rescue of two baby goats that somehow got trapped on the pillar of a 60-foot high bridge between Billings and Roundup.

The goats were spotted on the ledge on Wednesday morning; Sandy Church of the Rimrock Humane Society said it's not yet known how the animals ended up in such a precarious predicament.

Church and Cory Freeman of Animal Edventures Sanctuary were able to get help from Signal Peak Energy to rescue the goats, using a crane with a long arm and a bucket so that rescuers could retrieve the goats and bring them safely to the ground.

The goats were then transported to the Animal Edventures Sanctuary in Roundup. I spoke with Cory Freeman, the owner of the sanctuary, on Thursday, and she said that the goats are doing well and have been named Judy and Lana. She said that they still appear to be a little confused and tired but otherwise fine, and noted that they are particularly fond of chokecherry bushes.

Freeman's sanctuary includes a hodgepodge of many exotic animals, including badgers, donkeys, pythons, yaks, and even an anteater.

Freeman is not optimistic about the goats' owner turning up, and said that the goats are welcome at her sanctuary for as long as necessary.
