Baucus announces help for Montana Hostess workers

BILLINGS - Montana U.S. Senator Max Baucus announced a plan Monday that will provide aid to 200 workers who lost work in the nationwide closure of Hostess brands last November.

The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program provides support and training for those workers who lost their jobs and helps workers find future employment.

The program provides for personalized job training that best suits their needs, including short-term certificate programs, help in going back to school to earn a new degree, aid in finding a new job through the Montana State Job Service Program and extended unemployment insurance benefits.

The TAA is set to retire at the end of the calendar year, but Baucus says he'll continue his support of the program and is looking for a possible extension.
