Beaverhead County gave its presentation Wednesday for a proposed veterans' home.

More than 100 people showed up at the University of Montana Western to support the veterans' home in Dillon.

Veteran Frank Hull opened the presentation with a speech and even a song. He then went through a slideshow of information about the site and Dillon. He talked about the positives, including Dillon being ranked the eighth best place to live by Outdoor Life Magazine, the Senior Bus in town, and the local veterans groups.

Hospital staff also took to the podium.

The site selection committee asked questions about the hospital, concerning the availability of physicians in the emergency room 24 hours and the amount of staff for the ER. One hospital worker used results of a survey to describe how patients feel about the local ER.

The group then got on a bus with a police escort and went to the YMCA. There everyone was able to look out the window at the site, which is right next door.

The site is 10.4 acres and was donated by Beaverhead Development Corporation. At the YMCA there was more presentation on the site and committee members then asked questions about the size of the sewer and what would happen to the power lines that currently run through the site. The answer was that they will be moved. Later in the afternoon, the presentation resumed with public comment

The site selection committee's next stop is Anaconda on Thursday.
