The MSU Bobcats declawed the Skyhawks this weekend in the season opener.
It was a youth movement for sure on the field. Whether it was Cody Kirk's tough-nosed running and two scores or Denarius McGhee hitting old scout team buddy Tanner Bleskin for a touchdown, MSU received great contribution from their underclassmen.
Many coaches lean towards seniority but Coach Rob Ash has his own philosophy on starting young players. With the confidence his quarterback possess, it's easy to see why.
"It was all about who we felt was the best player at the time. I've always run my programs that way. I think it's very good, it keeps everyone on their toes and everybody knows they have to keep fighting for their jobs," Ash said.
"I just love it. Like my dad says - big time players, make big plays, in big games. I just try to show up all the time, no matter who we're playing. Just show up and make plays," McGhee said.
