UPDATE: Incident commander Ed Fisher of Boulevard Fire Department estimates the blaze at 75 to 100 acres. He says choppers have a water line around the fire and they are working on hot spots. Choppers are instrumental in keeping fire from getting farther into the timber, he said.

A brush fire is burning along South Buxton Road this afternoon about five miles south of Rocker.

At around 4:15 p.m., KXLF and KBZK news director John Sherer reports that the fire is spreading to the east. The brush fire is burning in the grass lands west of Interstate 15 south of Rocker.

The fire is burning into the foothills and several trees have torched so far.

The fire burned within maybe 50 yards of a house, but fire crews were able to stop it before it reached the home, Sherer said. Another house is located about ¼ mile from the fire, but a dirt road separates the fire from the home.

The Butte-Silver Bow and Home Atherton fire departments, BSB police, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and US Forest Service are on the scene.
