A Butte art gallery will celebrate its grand opening this week.
The Phoenix Art Gallery has a new home on South Dakota Street. The gallery was originally located on the main floor of the Phoenix Building on Park Street and recently moved to the basement level.
Owner Ray Campeau says it was a labor of love as the space needed a lot of restoration work. The end result is a spacious gallery complete with a sculpture court.
"I think it's an incredible space. I've been running galleries for 40 years, and I think this is the most gallery-like gallery I've been able to put together because right from the beginning it had a goal of what it was going to look like and how it was going to service the artists," Campeau said.
Campeau says the gallery will feature a variety of artwork from western pieces to literal photo reel abstractions.
The grand opening will be held this Thursday as part of the art walk. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. There will also be entertainment for the celebration.
Two other businesses are now located in the basement area as well, Jenny Petersen's Yoga Center and a guitar business.
