A casino worker foiled an Anaconda man's alleged attempt at robbing a Butte casino.

Christopher Bomar, 25, appeared before Judge Debra Williams Monday afternoon and was officially charged with felony robbery of the Happy Endings Casino on Paxson Avenue.

Police were dispatched to the casino at 2:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of an attempted robbery, according to Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff John Walsh. The casino clerk reports that a man wearing a red bandanna across his face and a grey sweatshirt entered the casino and brandished a knife and demanded the clerk hand over money. Instead, the clerk fought with the suspect and kicked him. The suspect then fled the business.

Police say they found Bomar hiding in a field near Walmart. Bomar reportedly admitted to police he tried to rob the casino and showed an officer the location of the seven-inch knife.

Bomar's bond was set at $50,000. If convicted he faces up to 40 years in prison and or a $50,000 fine.
