Voting for final approval of a policy on Butte High School students taking courses online is expected to take place in September, but students can sign up for the courses before then.
Monday night was the first reading of the policy for how Butte High School students will use the Montana Digital Academy online courses, Butte School District curriculum director Judy Jonart said. She says the second and final reading won't be until September, however, since they expect this policy to go through, students can still sign up for the courses before the final approval.
The Montana Digital Academy is a new state program that offers free online classes. According to its website, the online courses will allow students more course choices, a chance to retake classes, and an opportunity to gain credits.
