A Butte man appeared in justice court today facing a charge of attempted deliberate homicide.

Vincent Knight, 19, is accused of hitting his girlfriend on the head and leaving her for dead on the sidewalk on South Washington Street on Oct. 12.

Vincent is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 16. His bond is set at $250,000.

A newspaper carrier found Hartman unconscious on the sidewalk in the 700 block of South Washington Street in Butte on the morning of Oct. 12. She spent three weeks in a coma at a hospital in Great Falls. She is now recovering in Butte.

Knight was arrested on a warrant in Wyoming in connection with the assault.
