A Butte man was arrested after police reportedly found him in possession of methamphetamine following a traffic accident.

John Cooper, 46, was taken into custody at around 2 p.m. Saturday, police Captain George Skuletich said.  The accident happened at the intersection of Montana and Platinum streets after Cooper reportedly ran a red light.

Police say Cooper was asked to empty his pockets after officers noticed he was acting jittery.  That's when they found a plastic baggie allegedly containing methamphetamine.

Cooper faces numerous charges, including running a red light, no insurance, driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.

No one was injured in the crash.
