Montana Office of Public Instruction will conduct an investigation into allegations the Butte School District misappropriated and misallocated Title 1 funds involving the Webster Alternative High School and Special Education Services Department.
The Webster School has been renamed to the Butte High Career Center. The formal complaint was made by the school's secretary, Lisa Andrews. The complaint states there are two science classes without funds for a classroom lab and lab materials and that there is a shortage of science textbooks.
Superintendent of Butte School District Linda Reksten says she's confident the OPI will find that the district is in compliance as Title 1 funds are not generally used for textbooks and materials. She also says the program is set to be revamped.
