A new location for the Butte-Silver Bow Public Library is opening in the wake of flooding that closed the library's uptown location.

The South Branch of the library is located across from the Plaza 6 Theatres in the Butte Plaza Mall. A grand opening will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20. The celebration will include a book sale and holiday snacks through Thursday, Dec. 23.

The South Branch will provide complete library services for Butte-Silver Bow residents, including children's programming, computer and internet access and check-out services. The Book Club and Tech Tip Classes will be moved to the South Branch for the month of January.

Patrons may continue to use the online catalogue at www.catalogue.buttepubliclibrary.info to reserve materials for pick-up at all locations, including the Uptown Branch and 3 Bears.

Hours for the South Branch will match those at the Uptown location as follows:

Monday: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Wednesday: 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Thursday: 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday: CLOSED

The South Branch will be closed Friday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 26 for the winter holidays and will reopen on Monday, Dec. 27.

In a release about the new location, the Butte Public Library would issued a thank you to Alana Ferko and the Butte Plaza Mall for the donation of six months' rent. It also thanked Merle Axford and Walmart for paint, shelving and labor.

"In addition, the library would like to acknowledge the Butte community as a whole for the outpouring of love and support during this challenging time - continuing to celebrate Butte and connect our community is the library's number one priority," the release said.
