Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners are still looking to get an appraisal on the Deluxe Bar that shares a wall with the Brinks building on Front Street, according to Karen Byrnes, community development director for Butte-Silver Bow.
In previous council meetings the council voted to demolish the Brinks building. Because the buildings share a wall there is a chance the Deluxe will suffer structural damage when the Brinks is demolished, according to Byrnes. The commissioners decided it may be reasonable to tear down both buildings and rebuild the Deluxe.
Nearly three weeks ago the council opened the bid for appraisals but received none, according to Byrnes. The county has sent solicitations to eight different firms for appraisals and has continued to make phone calls as of Tuesday morning.
"The process is taking much longer than we expected, but we will continue to work with the property owner," Byrnes said.
