DOD: Montana soldier was killed by insurgents

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - More details have been released about a Montana soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense said Wednesday that 19-year-old Pvt. Nicholas S. Cook of Hungry Horse was killed when insurgents opened fire on his unit in Konar province on March 7. Cook's body arrived
at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Tuesday.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Camp Ederle, Italy.
