Imagine looking at 1,000 American flags. It may be hard to picture but thanks to the help of 100 volunteers, the Butte Exchange Club had exactly 1,000 flags pounded into the ground in record time.
On Thursday, the Butte Exchange club is hosting their 2nd Annual Field of Honor Event, an event that honors fallen service men and women of Montana as well as everyday heroes in our lives.
"This event is so important to us because primarily the event is for healing," said Doug Rotundi, volunteer chairman for the Butte Exchange Club.
The flags, situated under the Belmont head frame on Mercury Street, can be sponsored for $35. Flags can be purchased for an additional $20 dollars, Rotundi said.
An opening ceremony will be held on Thursday at noon. The field of honor will be displayed throughout the weekend. Purchased flags can be picked up after closing ceremonies at noon on Sunday.
