It's still early for bears to start coming down into the lower valley floors, but according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, people going to the woods this weekend should keep their eyes open.
As you hike and camp in the woods and mountains this Labor Day weekend, FWP reminds people that bears are beginning to stock up on food for the long winter months.
Grizzlies are not yet at the hyperphagia phase where they are single mindedly looking for food, but many are coming down to lower elevations to gather berries and other types of foods.
At Kalispell's Fish, Wildlife and Parks office, John Fraley says make sure your food is stored well and make plenty of noise while hiking and camping in the woods.
