Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer handed out innovation awards to nine Montana businesses, two of them from Gallatin County on Tuesday night.

The two local award winners are Simms Fishing Products of Bozeman and Bridger Photonics, makers of laser based measurement systems. The company is recognized by Inc magazine as the fastest growing privately held engineering company in the US.

"You know this is a huge honor for us, especially this being the first year and all. We're really excited about it," said Pete Roos of Bridger Photonics. "You know at the end of the day it all comes down to our employee. And, I've got to give a huge shout our to our employees."

Other companies honored were from Billings, Havre, Missoula, Columbia Falls, Harlowton and Chester.
