A military mom's dream came true Saturday, after some help from local organizations.
Wanda Wait said it is been three years since she's seen her son Kelly Johnson. Johnson is a sergeant in the US Army.
Due to physical disabilities, Wait can't afford a plane ticket to see him.
When the Great Falls Vet Center and My Neighbor in Need heard her story, they stepped in to help pay for that ticket.
Wait said her son has deployed to Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq twice.
She's excited and relieved to see him again, much like the first time she saw him after coming home from Iraq.
"I got to go to Georgia when he came home from Iraq the first time," Wait said. "I got to watch him come off from the bus and come into the building and it was like giving birth to him all over again. Only a mother can understand what I'm saying."
Johnson is currently in Denver until he ships out to Georgia to train to become a drill sergeant.
Wait will be in Colorado until August 18th.
