OGDEN, UT - Anthony Johnson set a Big Sky Conference Tournament record by draining 42 points and the Griz came back from a 20-point half-time deficit to down Weber State 66-65.
Johnson took the game into his own hands in the second half, putting home 34 points. He scored a two pointer to put the Griz on top with just seconds remaining in the game.
The win sends the University of Montana to the NCAA tournament with an automatic bid and we'll find out this Sunday who the Griz will play in the first round.
A few Griz fans were lucky enough to watch the game in Ogden, Utah, while others got to watch it in Paradise Falls.
It was a place for Griz fans of all ages to eat, drink, and cheer for their boys, despite a shaky first half. It also proved to be a place for Griz fans to witness the men moving on to the NCAA tournament for the first time in four years.
For one UM student, it was a way to be closer to his best friend.
"I went to all the home games that I could. My best friend, he plays for the Griz. His name is Ryan Nelson, he's a walk-on from Seely Lake," Michael Ream said. "And A.J., I talk to him a lot. He's a really great guy."
Weber State and Montana had already played twice this year, with each team winning on their home court.
