Honor flight for veterans to take off from Billings on Sunday

Six World War II veterans from the Helena area will be heading out of Billings on Sunday on an honor flight to Washington D.C.
It's all to see the memorial dedicated to their service. But before they leave, the Helena community rallied to celebrate the six and give them a proper send off on Saturday.

This is the first time in Helena that such a send-off has been organized. The Helena Chapter of the Montana Patriot Guard organized a motorcycle escort that saw the six vets through to Three Forks. Those that stayed back, lined up along Custer, waving flags and shouting cheers.

Eddy White, American Legion Post 2 Trustee, said, "I think it just shows that there are people that still appreciate what they did 60 plus years ago and it should never be forgotten. Like any other period of time in our history, it should never be forgotten."

The six veterans and their escorts will fly out of Billings on Sunday for D.C. and will return to Montana on Monday.
