Authorities have identified human remains found west of Anaconda in April 2008.
The results of DNA testing indicate the remains are that of Brian Ankeny of Anaconda, Detective Steve Barclay said. He was last seen Nov. 24, 1989 and was reported missing on the 30th.
Ankeny's cause of death is a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Barclay. The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in July 2008, along with DNA samples of his twin brother and father.
The human skull, bones, clothing and a revolver were discovered near Stumptown Road by people hunting for shed antlers west of Anaconda.
