A male inmate at the Butte-Silver Bow Detention Center was rushed to the hospital Wednesday where he was pronounced dead.
Police Captain Doug Conway says paramedics responded to a report of an inmate found unconscious by detention center staff just before midnight. Detention officers were performing CPR and using a defibrillator when rescue personnel arrived.
The inmate was transported to St. James Healthcare where he later died. Butte-Silver Bow Coroner Lee LaBreche says he suspects the 50-year-old inmate died of natural causes. The body will be taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
The man's name has not yet been released. He was in the detention center on a felony warrant out of Wyoming and his home address is listed as Anaconda.
