Heavy rainfall from 2011 is causing the Department of Environmental Quality to do maintenance work in the Highlands south of Butte.
This week DEQ and the Abandoned Mine Lands Program will be hauling in materials like soil and rock to the project site just off Forest Service Road #84.
This site is near the historic Highland Mine which is about 19 miles south of Butte.
Next week maintenance work will begin with rip-rapping the hillsides to prevent further erosion from precipitation.
There may be periodic delays from 5 to 10 minutes on the road.
There will be no hauling of equipment or materials from 7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. for public safety and school busses.
You can expect to see a mini excavator and bobcat working on the side of the road but recreation should not be affected.
