Man crashes stolen car in Missoula after allegedly stealing rifle from Walmart

MISSOULA - A man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a car and an assault rifle and then leading Missoula police officers on a chase down Reserve Street in Missoula.

Michael Reynolds is being charged with felony theft and robbery.

Prosecutors say he stole a car in downtown Missoula on Saturday. Shortly after that, officers responded to Walmart on Reserve Street after receiving a report that a man who was looking at an assault rifle grabbed the rifle and then took off with it.

A Walmart employee tried to stop him, but prosecutors say Reynolds threatened to kill him and continued running out of the store.

Reynolds apparently threw the rifle into some bushes, jumped into the stolen car, and started to drive away.

Officers caught up to him when he crashed the car near Spurgin Road.
