SPOKANE- A lineman working on a transmission tower near the Idaho-Montana border, was killed after falling over 100 feet Thursday.
Officials say Bonneville Power Administration lineman Matt Karstetter fell from a transmission tower at around 11 a.m., while working on a spacer replacement project.
All work at the site was suspended after the incident. There were no other injuries at the scene and an investigation is underway.
"We are in mourning. I and many others have a deep sense of loss of a member of our BPA family," BPA Administrator Steve Wright said. "Our hearts reach out to Matt's coworkers, family and friends."
Karstetter joined BPA in June 2004. He worked on the Kalispell transmission line maintenance crew until graduating from the apprentice program in 2008. Most recently, Matt worked as a journeyman on the Bell transmission line crew in Spokane.
