This weekend marked great success for both the men and women of Montana State University as they refused to back down to the Grizzlies in ZooTown on Saturday.

The Bobcat men used a formulaic attack to grind down the play clock in the second half after going up by 16 with 11 minutes to play.

MSU head coach Brad Huse admits it may have been a boring style of play, but the Cats like boring, as long as it ends with a win.

"Maintaining a tempo, making sure we were getting a high percentage shot and making them guard for a long time and taking a little bit of air out of the ball. We had a lead there, and there's no reason to be in a big hurry, so those guys understand the game plan and really executed it well," Huse said.

The Bobcats will host sixth seeded Portland State on Saturday to see who goes to Ogden for the Big Sky semifinals.

As for the MSU women, history was made on Feb. 27. It was the first time the Lady Cats have ever beaten a Robin Selvig coached team in Dahlberg Arena.

Not since the 1970s have fans seen anything like this from the Lady Cats.

It will be hard to see another performance similar to that of sophomore Katie Bussey who, in the closing moments, tied the game with one three and gave MSU a lead it would not relinquish with another.

Tricia Binford reflected on the clutch Katie Bussey.

"The crowd was going wild, and we called a quick hit for Katie from the sideline. Just felt it was the right time. They wouldn't be prepared for it, and she hit the big shot to get that crowd quieted and that was a big play for us. I thought that was the momentum shift and our kids did what they had to do down the stretch to seal the deal," Binford said.
