The newest club at the University of Montana Western is investigating paranormal activity.

WRAPS, or Westerns Research Association for Paranormal Studies, started in November after a paranormal investigator visited the campus.

The students recently did an investigation of Main Hall. The ghost story surrounding this building is about a little girl who used to take piano lessons on the fourth floor.

"She lived across the street, and when she came over to take her piano lessons one day she got hit by a car. And obviously there's more specifics to that, but she got hit by a car and obviously it was fatal but to this day people have heard the piano playing late at night or early morning, and I actually myself have witnessed that," WRAPS president Anthony Harris said.

Harris said the group is the only paranormal investigation group on a college campus in Montana.

Group members spend a few hours at night at a location and see what they can pick up with things like the electromagnetic field detectors, audio recorder, and infrared thermometers.

"(We) use it because paranormal phenomena is known to put off a fair amount of energy and they use that energy to contact you like moving chairs," Harris said.
