LIVINGSTON - Crews will break ground on a new $40 million hospital in Livingston this summer.

The new facility will replace a hospital built in 1955, and have 25 beds. Its campus will also feature a physician clinic and a building for other services.

Three years ago, a new hospital was announced for Livingston, but funding for the project fell through when the bond market crashed.

Construction on the new facility is expected to take two years to complete.

Livingston HealthCare is the largest employer in the area.
Livingston HealthCare CEO Bren Lowe points out that the new state-of-the-art facility is much needed.

"It will completely replace our 1955 facility, which does not structurally meet the healthcare needs of today or the future," Lowe said.

Livingston HealthCare estimates construction of the new campus, south of Interstate 90, will create an additional $15 million in local economic activity.
