During a public hearing at Wednesday night's Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners meeting, seven proponents spoke in favor of Nick Kujawa's redevelopment proposal for the historic Greek Café building in Uptown Butte. Zero opponents stood up to speak against the proposal.

"I see this as an economic development project, one we can all get behind," said Mitzi Rossillon.

Brian McGregor said he supports the proposal, "absolutely for economic reasons."

Robert Edwards told commissioners not to create another parking lot in Butte by getting rid of the historic building.

Kujawa presented his proposal for the building to council Wednesday, March 2. He told commissioners he wants to preserve the six storefronts of the building and put office space on the second floor. However, he said because of the buildings condition his insurance company will not issue some insurance. He wants the city county to demolish the interior and brace the building before he moves in to redevelop it.

The comments presented in Wednesday's public hearing will be taken under consideration by the Developers Packet Review Committee. They will make a recommendation to council on the proposal at a later date.
