Snow forces Missoula area event cancellations

The Southgate Mall in Missoula will close at 7 p.m. on Thursday due to the bad weather.

The Race To Nowhere screening that was scheduled for Thursday night in Potomac has been rescheduled due to poor road conditions. The event will take place on Feb. 7 at the Potomac Community Center.

Missoula County Public Schools canceled classes Thursday due to the snowstorm that's hit western Montana. That was good news for Hellgate High School students who have another day to study for their finals, that will start on Friday.

School exams Seeley High School planned for Thursday will be held next Tuesday with Friday's tests set to go as scheduled. If the school is closed on Friday, those exams will be on Tuesday morning and we will run 1-7 hour second semester short classes in the afternoon. And if school is closed both days, exams will be Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, with Wednesday, afternoon being 1-7 short classes.

The play at Big Sky High School for Thursday night has been canceled and all practices and open gym activities have been called off.

The Graduation Matters Missoula two-year anniversary celebration scheduled for Thursday at the MCPS Business Building Board Room has also been canceled due to inclement weather conditions.

School officials had previously announced that an open forum for students and parents that was scheduled for Thursday evening at Seeley-Swan High School was canceled due to severe weather.

Currents Aquatics Center is open on Thursday but swim lessons and Quickstart Youth Tennis have been canceled due to poor road conditions. No make-ups classes are scheduled at this time, but alternatives will be announced at the next lesson. For more information, phone (406) 721.PARK.

Hellgate Elementary School has announced that will not be holding classes on Friday due to the winter weather.

The Osher Lifelong Institute at The University of Montana (MOLLI) has canceled all classes scheduled for Thursday and Friday with classes set to resume next week. For more information call the MOLLI office at (406) 243.2905.

Community Medical Center's Diabetes and Heart Prevention class set for 5 p.m. on Thursday has also been canceled due to the bad weather.
