Some of the best snowboarders in the world gathered in Big Sky for the Smash Life event Friday. This fundraiser was held to honor Aaron Robinson who died in a snowboarding accident in June.

Friends and family started a foundation in Aaron's honor to make his wish come true.

"His goal was to get every kid that could not afford to snowboard or ski up on the mountain, and that's what I'm going to do," said Pam Robinson, Aaron's mother.

Various fundraisers around the country have raised $25,000 since the A Rob Plant a Seed Foundation was started five months ago, which aims to provide lift tickets and snowboarding gear for kids in needy families.

"We are doing this fundraiser for Aaron Robinson and he just happens to have some of the best snowboarders in the world as friends," said Shane Stalling, the Smash Life event organizer.

Stalling says getting 98 of those snowboarders to participate in the Smash Life competition was easy, they were all happy to participate in an event in honor of their friend.

"All of the money we raise is going to Aaron's Plant a Seed Foundation." The registration fee was $15, so they hope to raise about $2,000 from Smash Life alone.

The foundation will focus on teaching kids how to snowboard from Whitefish, Montana first, where Aaron was from, and next year Aaron's girlfriend and his brother will move overseas to start the foundation in Chile, Aaron's favorite place on Earth.

"Aaron would be honored, embarrassed because we're doing all this for him, and he would be overwhelmed," said Aaron's mother of the event and foundation.

If you are interested in donating to the Plant a Seed Foundation, volunteering to teach children how to snowboard, or if you have any used equipment you would like to donate you can contact Pam Robinson at (406) 250-2440. The First Interstate Bank in Whitefish, Montana is also helping with the foundation. You can contact them at (406) 863-8888.
