Summer is in full swing across the nations oldest national park.
Heavy winter snowpack and a cool wet spring mean wildlife in the park are bunching together in numbers not seen for quite some time.
"It seemed like summer was never going to arrive in the park," said Yellowstone National Park spokesman Al Nash. "We finally have temperatures that at the lower elevations at least are breaking in to the 70s during the daytime. People need to remember that there's a lot of wildlife, a lot of visitors who stop in the middle of the road and if you're here in to the evening it can still get very cold at night. Those are always important things to think about."
Nash suggests that visitors plan to take their time when visiting this time of year. Traffic is increasing and that can lead to some congestion in certain areas of the park.
Because of the high waters right now, he also suggests checking in with rangers about campground closures.
