With Monday marking the deadline to file to run for the 2010 election last minute candidate filings came in late.

For House District 73 incumbent Pat Noonan, a Democrat from Ramsay, now has a challenger. Republican Rachel Roberts of Butte has filed to run.

For House District 74 Butte republican Max Yates is running against Democrat Bob Brock.

Over in Deer Lodge there was a new filing for House District 85 Monday night.  Republican BJ Schubert of Deer Lodge is challenging incumbent Cynthia Hiner, a Democrat.

For House District 72 Republican Ron Lake filed Monday against Republican incumbent Jeffrey Welborn.  Both are from Dillon.

There are four candidates for Senate District 43, a seat recently vacated by Jesse Laslovich. They include Democrat Gene Vuckovich of Anaconda, Republican Jonathan Arnold of Philipsburg, former Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Commissioner Wayne Ternes, a Democrat, and Joe Rangitsch of Anaconda, also a Democrat.

Also, in Anaconda, Democrat Kathy Swanson and incumbent Jim Jenner of Philipsburg are running for House District 86.

For House District 71 Ray Shaw, a Republican from Sheridan, threw his hat in the ring along with Republican incumbent Bob Wagner of Harrison.  They join Les Gilman, a Republican candidate from Sheridan.

Four candidates are now vying for House District 77, an area that stretches between Butte and Helena.  Republicans Alan Hale of Basin, Gregg Trude of Clancy and Kirk Wagoner of Montana City along with Democrat Sheila Hogan of Clancy.

That leaves only a couple of uncontested races for southwest Montana, including Edith McClafferty (D) of Butte for House District 75 and Jon Sesso (D) of Butte for House District 76. Both have filed for another term.
