Over the seven days, several snow storms have been dumping good mountain snow around SW Montana and the snow/water percent of average numbers are slowly rising.

One of the biggest increases has been in the Gallatin River basins, last week 70% of average this week up to 80% of average. Bridger Bowl Ski Area reported 12"-15" of new snow just on Tuesday of this week with reports of 6"-10" at Big Sky and some of the snotel sites between Big Sky and West Yellowstone.

The Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin river basins are running below average for this time of year by 20% to 30%, whereas, the Upper Yellowstone, Missouri Headwaters and Upper Clark Fork basins are near to slightly below average.

A progressive weather pattern continues to develop through the next 7 days with another storm system likely to bring widespread mountain snow this weekend.

March and early April are typically great months for producing heavy wet mountain snow so there is still hope that we will come out of the mountain snowpack season near normal by mid April.
