Posted: Updated:

Mrs. Maureen Theresa Yelenich passed away at her residence on Friday.  Maureen was born on February 07, 1935, in Butte, Montana, the daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Lowney) Shea.

Maureen attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Girls Central High School, and Carroll College, from which she received her degree in Nursing.  Her life was dedicated to the service of others.  During her life-long career as a Registered Nurse, Maureen worked at the old St. James Hospital, served as staff nurse for several doctors, and the Murray Clinic, from which she retired, only to continue her calling as a home healthcare nurse.

On October 26, 1953, Maureen married the love her life, Joseph Yelenich, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Together they raised 5 boys.  Joseph preceded her in death on January 06, 2000.

In addition to Maureen’s devotion to the care of others as a Nurse, she was a devout Catholic, a living example of her faith.  She was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a member of the Lady Hibernians and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, and a supporter of Catholic Education.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Joe, Maureen was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia “TT’ Markovich.  She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Yelenich, Joe and Lauri Yelenich, John Yelenich, Mike and Susan Yelenich, and Brian and Tammy Yelenich; her grandchildren, Jake (Taryn), Matthew (Emily), Meagan, Kellie, Mickey, Caitlin, Tyge, Gator, and Gunner Yelenich; and her great grandchildren, Jordyn, Teagan, Shea, and Lita.  She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Bill Thompson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends, which include her very special friends, Jeanne Daugherty and Corrine Graham.

Friends are asked to join the family on Wednesday after 9:00 am in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  The Holy Rosary of Our Most Blessed Virgin Mary will be offered at 9:45 am.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am.
