Obituary: Brian K. "Fatty" Atkins

On April 19th 2017 Brian "Fatty" Atkins passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born on November 24th 1972 to Virgil and Nita (Cronnelly) Atkins.

He attended Blaine and Kennedy Elementary schools and graduated from Butte Central High School in 1992. He then went to the Wyoming Technical Institute where he received his certificate for Auto Body repair.

He began his career at J & C Body Shop where he spent several years repairing and painting cars. He then obtained his engineering and boilers license while working for Butte School District No. 1. He worked at various schools before finally being transferred to Butte High School where he was employed at the time of his death.

On May 12th 1998 he was blessed with his son and the light of his life, Cole Atkins. He was his constant companion and best friend often being referred to as "Fatty Jr."

He had a real passion for life and a thrill for expressing himself and always made himself the life of the party. He loved camping with family and good friends with outdoor concerts being his favorite.

He had many great friends that he considered his extended family that he met while being the worlds best bartender at the Scoop Thirst Parlor. Fatty would take the shirt off his back to help a friend in need and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Fatty held a special place in his heart for his dear friend "Mama" Dee Kougioulis with a bond that could never be broken. She was his best friend and confidant and was always there for him when he needed a few "words of wisdom".

Fatty was preceded in death by his Father, Virgil Atkins. His Grandparents, Emmett and Mary Cronnelly and Oliver and Maude Atkins. Uncle and Aunt, Jug and Mary Clare Cronnelly and Uncle, Bud Clemo.  Great Uncles and Aunts, Ray and Catherine Rashleigh and John and Rosemary Oneill. Great Uncles, Tom and John Phillips.

He is survived by his Parents Nita and Bob Wriston. His Sons, Cole Atkins and Cody Dvoroznak and Cody's fiancé Abriana Doyle. His Brother, Keith Atkins and children Andrew, Randy and Maygan. Sister, Lisa Atkins and children Michael, Stewart and Dustin. Sister, Cindy Dahlman and children McKenna and Sheratyn. Brother and Sister in Law Keith and Lisa Wriston and children Vincent and Connor. Sister and Brother in Law Julie and John Stapleton and children Jordan and Jada. Uncle and Aunt Jerry and Donna Carlson and Aunt Joyce Clemo. Cousins, Barb, Mike, Pat, Tim, Tom, Shelly, Laurie, Connie, Sally, Patty, Gaylord, Cassie, Dana, Steven, Virgie, Toni and Jimmy. Fatty had a special bond with cousins Jessica and Craig Ladouceur and Sheanna Cronnelly that led to many a good time.

The visitation for Brian will be held on Tuesday from 4p.m. to 7p.m. at Duggan Dolan Mortuary with a prayer service to follow. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with internment and right of committal at Holy Cross Cemetery.

A reception celebrating the life of Fatty will follow the services at the East Side Athletic Club  3200 Dexter.

Memorials may be made to the Lady of the Rockies or the Butte Central Catholic Education Fund.
