Cool Weather Sticking Around For Butte This Weekend

Posted: Updated:

A cool NW flow aloft will continue to hold back temperatures and keep highs and lows running slightly below normal through the weekend. This cooler pattern will help to slowly melt out the abundant wet snow from this weeks storm in the valley and foothills. Higher mountain snow will settle a little this weekend but look for local small streams to be running very high and with warming temperatures next week major rivers will be back on the rise across SW Montana.

At this time there are no flooding highlights issued for our region from the National Weather Service but it's runoff season so expect all waterways to be running strong now into June.

Back to the forecast for this weekend. A cool NW flow has a limited amount of moisture dropping down into Montana and with the warmest temperatures in the afternoon adding a little atmospheric lift a few isolated showers and small thunderstorms could develop Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

I break your weekend forecast down in the attached short on demand STORMTracker video forecast. Take a look before you make plans for this weekend. Tonight at 5:30 pm and 10 pm I'll have updates on local 7 day forecasts and a 10 day forecast for Butte on KXLF.
