Obituary: Judy Pennell

Posted: Updated:

God saw that you were getting sick.  A cure was not to be.  So he put his arms around you, and whispered come with me.  With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away.  Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay.  A Golden heart stopped beating.  Hard working hands to rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the Best.

Friday, God called a beautiful woman home.  Judy Pennell passed away at her residence.   Judy was born, Judith Elizabeth Nylund, the daughter of Ralph and Georgia (Oren) Nylund.  She was born in Butte on January 05, 1947.

After graduating from Butte High School, Judy went to work, for Mountain Bell, as a Telephone Operator.  She work there until the offices where moved to Helena, Montana.  She then became employed by the Montana Power Company, where she worked until she took an early retirement.  After retirement, she returned to school.  She graduated from Montana Tech with a degree in Accounting and Human Resource Management.  She returned to work for the Montana State Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS), where she was employed until her retirement.

Judy married the love of her life, Thomas Patrick Pennell, on July 27, 1968.  Together they had 3 beautiful children; Pam, Tom, and Dawn.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years; daughters and son-in-law, Pam (Troy Dawes), and Dawn and Bob Pearson; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Mindy Pennell; grandchildren, Bo and Jada Berge, and Justina, Mason, and Kohlter Pennell; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Kris Nylund; nephew, Eric Nylund; sister-in-law, Maureen Pennell; and other cherished family too numerous to mention.

Mom loved her family and friends.  We will miss you so much, Mom!  Love you to the moon and back.

A Time of Remembrance, a celebration of Judy’s life, will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel.  In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to a charity of donor’s choice.
