Man injured at Deer Creek, airlifted to Bozeman hospital

Posted: Updated:

At about 3 p.m. Friday a swimmer had to be rescued from the Deer Creek area in the Gallatin Canyon.

This area is also commonly referred to as the Green Bridge area.

A man between the ages of 20-25 was seriously injured while swimming. He was pulled to the shore by others recreating in the area.

Reach Air ambulance was called and transported the victim to Bozeman Health Deaconess.

According to Big Sky Fire Department Chief Bill Farhat the man remains in serious condition Friday night.

Farhat says that while the area is a popular swimming area his department would like to remind people it’s not always safe.  Water levels change and there are obstacles in this stretch of water.

The chief said it's been five years since anyone has been injured in that area.
