An elderly Montana man was killed in a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 87 between Billings and Roundup on Tuesday morning.
Trooper Kristy Kees with the Montana Highway Patrol said the man, whose name has not been released, was traveling south when his Chevrolet van drifted off the right side of the road.
Kees said when he tried to steer the van back onto the road, he over corrected and veered off the left side of the road, causing the van to roll.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Other drivers began reporting the crash at 6:46 a.m. at mile marker 20.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash, but Kees said it appears he was not wearing a seat belt.
No other vehicles were involved in the wreck and he was the van’s only occupant.
The Yellowstone County Coroner's Office said more information about the man's identity might be available by Tuesday afternoon.
