BILLINGS - Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens are seeking information about two spike elk killed recently south of Big Timber and left to waste.
A landowner found the two dead elk Sunday on U.S. Forest Service land near Green Mountain between the East Fork and main stem of the Boulder River.
The animals were likely killed late Friday or early Saturday, according to FWP. The poacher removed a small amount of meat and teeth from one elk, but the remainder were left to waste.
A small warming fire was also built next to the two dead animals, according to FWP.
Call game warden Derek Fagone at 406-860-7809 for more information. The FWP also has a 24-hour tip line at 1-800-TIP-MONT, and callers can qualify for up to $1,000 in a cash reward for information leading to a conviction.
