Bank robbery suspect shot by officers in downtown Denver

DENVER – A bank robbery suspect was rushed to the hospital after a shooting involving officers in downtown Denver early Friday afternoon.

The shooting happened in the 1500 block of Welton Street after a robbery at the ANB Bank near the 16th Street Mall. Several shots were fired.

Officers recovered the weapon along with money from the bank robbery.

Police say no officers were hurt. The officer who fired on the suspect is a male who has been with the department for less than 10 years.

The bank robbery suspect was listed in critical condition as of 2:15 p.m.

The police activity in the area was causing delays for trains and buses in the area.
