Families finalize adoptions at annual Billings celebration

Posted: Updated:

Every year families celebrate adopting children and bringing them into their families.

Eight families finalized adoptions at the 20th annual Billings Adoption Celebration at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday.

The celebration is part of National Adoption Month and National Adoption Day.

Judge Michael Moses said in Montana as of the end of September, there were 3,354 kids in foster care, 879 in Yellowstone County.

"It's just amazing seeing everyone so happy and it's a great day,” said Holly Glidewell who adopted 6-year old Tabitha. “It's a great thing that they are all here to get adopted and have a family forever."

"You are not different,” Kayleigh Wichman, who is adopted said to the children joining new families. “You are exceptional in a sense that this is a second chance that my hope and my prayer is that each of these children will get to embrace that stability and grow and reach their fullest potential. And dream big, dream really big."

"They are adopting these kids, they are loving these kids and they are providing them with a permanent loving home and families,” said Moses, who finalized the adoptions. ”It is spectacular. It is one of the greatest things we do as judges. We love it."

Catholic Social Services,  Lutheran Social Services,  Montana Child and Family Services along with Wendy's and the Dave Thomas Foundation put on the celebration.
