LOLO - This month's A Waiting Child features 13-year-old Hailey, who is most at peace on a ranch with the horses.
Reporter Kent Luetzen recently spent an afternoon hanging out with Hailey at the Dunrovin Ranch in Lolo.
“I see myself kind of just on a ranch taking care of horses, taking care of bunnies,” Hailey said. “I really just love animals. I connect with the horses the best because it just feels like they get me.”
There’s something about horses and a Montana landscape that the eighth-grade student cannot deny, but it’s not just the ranching lifestyle that Hailey is drawn to. She is also a book-lover and diving into the magical world of Harry Potter is a common occurrence for Hailey.
A horse, a good novel, a campfire and an occasional hike describes the perfect day for this young Montanan. “I’d like to go hiking once in a while and then I’m just like really outdoorsy people, so I just like being out in the woods maybe up in the trails,” Hailey said.
While she dreams of the wizarding world and a ranch full of horses, what Hailey really wants is a family. She would love to be an older sister and live with people that share her same passions. But, most importantly would enjoy being around animals she can connect with.
MTN News would like to send out a big thank you to SuzAnne and Sterling Miller, the owners of Dunrovin Ranch, for allowing Hailey to enjoy a day with the horses.
