Festival of Trees in Butte raises funds for domestic violence shelter

Posted: Updated:

BUTTE - The season of giving started Friday in Butte with its annual Festival of Trees event.

More than 20 trees, wreaths and gift baskets were on display and up for silent auction at the Elks Lodge at 206 W. Galena St.

All the proceeds from this year's event will go to the Safe Space domestic violence shelter in Butte. The theme for this year’s event is favorite places and cities, and each item was donated by a person or organization in Butte.

“It's just heartwarming how generous people are. It's individual people, it's companies, it's corporations, it's pretty much everybody in Butte and they donate these beautiful trees,” said Safe Space Director Cathrine Beaunae.

The Festival of Trees continues Saturday until 3 p.m., followed by a gala event at 7 p.m.
