Donated bikes gifted to youth in need as part of Giving Tree Project

Helena youth in need will receive bikes this year thanks to Queen City Wheel House and the Cathedral of Saint Helena.

Queen City Wheel House volunteers fixed donated bikes on Saturday to give to the Cathedral of Saint Helena's Giving Tree Project, which collects donated toys and gifts for kids in need during the holidays.

Queen City Wheel House also accepts donations of tools and unwanted or unused bicycles and parts and then offers to teach people how to put a bike together among other projects.

Dave Ellis, co-founder of Queen City Wheel House, said around 18 bikes were donated.

"This is for needy families that could use a bike for their kiddos for the holidays to have something to ride," he said. "I like the idea of giving back to the community and filling a need and that's something that we are working for."

Ellis added that many people helped with the vision of Queen City Wheel House and wanted to thank the Montana Bicycle Guild, an organization that helps to improve Helena's biking trails.
