BOZEMAN – The next Pacific storm is increasing areas of snow with some mixed rain for lower valleys Sunday afternoon.

Mountain passes will have the best chance for accumulating snow, reduced visibility, wet roads turning icy and difficult travel conditions. After sunset temperatures will fall well below freezing over mountain passes leading to increasing icy road surfaces tonight.

Bozeman continues to see snow and lower visibility at 1:30 pm Sunday. Most roads are wet but could turn slushy through early evening. Your Monday morning commute will be icy but most of the snow should diminish before midnight Sunday.

The National Weather Service continues a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the northern half of SW Montana, roughly between Butte and Bozeman northward.

Snow and cold will produce wintry travel conditions so please slow down and give yourself extra travel time especially over mountain passes and watch for ice.

Temperatures will be down to near or below freezing for most of the region and that could bring icy roads Monday morning, but a warming atmosphere is expected Monday afternoon and that should melt away most of the lower valley snow.

The next weather concern will arrive later in the new work week. Plan on much colder temperatures beginning Thursday with scattered snow. Highs in the 30s and lows in the single digits to lower teens.
