Obituary: Julie Diane Downey

Posted

Julie Diane Downey, 53, left this world to be in Heaven Aug. 22, 2015. Our beautiful Julie was the most wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and auntie. She was born in Butte, Montana Sept. 25, 1961, to Gene and Margie Downey. Gene, Margie and their three girls moved from Butte to Missoula in 1966. Julie attended Russell Grade School and graduated from Sentinel High School in 1979.

After high school, Julie attended Butte Academy of Beauty Culture and became a licensed hair dresser. She was fortunate to find what she called her "Dream Job" in her most recent position as office manager for Creek Road Dental Care in Sandy, Utah. In 1984, Julie married Steve Stevens. Julie and Steve raised their two amazing children, Stevie and T.R., in Missoula. Her family meant the world to her, which inspired her (and her puppy Franco) to move to Spokane a year ago. Julie was so special to everyone who knew her. She lit up your life and was the type of person that made every room she walked into a happier place. Julie is an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. Julie’s strength and courage cannot be matched.

Julie is survived by her children, Stevie (Zach) and T.R. (Norma); parents, Gene and Margie Downey; sisters, Leslie (Tommy) Rosser and Margene (Steve) Fisher; nieces and nephews, Dylan (Jenna), Kord (Ashley), Seth (Nicole), Luke (Tyna), Lyric, Kord Jr, Nolan, and Grey; Uncle Sonny and Auntie Rose Ann Mirich and Aunt Sally Downey; numerous cousins; and was predeceased by her grandparents, Novie and Vasie Mirich and Frances Downey.

The family wishes to thank all those involved with Julie’s care, especially Dr. Lund, Dr. Hatheway, Dr. Whisenant, Dr. Shane Lewis, Walgreens Infusion and Horizon Hospice.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 2100 Continental Dr., Butte, Montana.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Butte. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the church.
